Fairfax Hardware got its start as Noonan Brothers Hardware and Sporting Goods in 1948. Harry Kresge purchased the store from the Noonan’s in 1963 and renamed it Fairfax Hardware. Harry turned the ownership of the store over to his sons, Bob and Jack Kresge, in 1967. They owned and operated the store for the next 27 years. In the winter of 1975, Art Pleasanton went to work for the Kresge brothers. After working at the store for 19 years, Art and his wife Janice purchased the store in 1994. After 45 years at Fairfax Hardware, 26 years as owner, Art Pleasanton retired in May 2019 and sold the store to Jeff Ulmer. Jeff and his family have owned and operated Action Hardware in Branmar Plaza for many years. Jeff and his team bring over 40 years of knowledge and experience and will continue the Fairfax Hardware tradition of quality products and excellent customer service.
