Welcome to Minh's Bistro I would like to extend a warm welcome to current and future patrons of Minh’s Bistro in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Although my first name is Thinh, I chose to name my bistro -- the first Vietnamese restaurant in the area -- in honor of my youngest brother, Minh. ? I was born one of eleven children and raised in Saigon at the height of the Vietnam War. I immigrated by myself to the United States at the age of 20. After a period of struggle adjusting to a new language and culture, I studied electrical engineering at George Washington University. At age 31, I married an American woman, Ashley (long story!) and in our early 40’s, we had our only child, a daughter whose American name is Emma Margaret. With the support of my family and after retiring from a 28-year career designing electrical systems for high security government buildings, I am able to fulfill a lifelong dream of both entrepreneurship and giving back to the country that so generously sponsored me over three decades ago. ? By opening up an authentic Vietnamese restaurant, I am happy to introduce my culture and cuisine to my friends and neighbors in the Delmarva community while providing employment opportunities for my fellow American citizens. I am indebted as well to the Vietnam Veterans who sacrificed so much for our freedom.
